STUDY TOURS TO CHINA, HONG KONG, MACAO, EASTERN AND NORTHERN EUROPE IN 1999!
I am a professor of economics at Carthage College in Wisconsin. I also taught at Luigi Bocconi University in Italy, Helsinki School of Economics in Finland, Academy of of Foreign Trade in Moscow, Russia, University of San Diego, San Diego, California and other educational institutions of seven countries. I like to travel and I travel a lot. I successfully organized study tours to Austria, Mexico, Lithuania, Germany, Mongolia, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Holland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Hungary, and the United Kingdom. As a part of these tours, participants visited government, educational, labor and business institutions, discussed economic and political matters, got acquainted with cultural and historic heritage. Unique character of these trips provides diverse groups of participants with the opportunity to interact with people of different walks of life in a friendly environment. All trips are very cost effective: there is no overhead, they are organized on non-profit basis with adequate but affordable transportation and lodging. Next trip is scheduled to South China, Hong Kong and Macao (two weeks long, sponsored by Carthage College) in January 1999. At the end of May of 1999 another trip: Northern and Eastern Europe by bus with visits of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Estonia.

Our studies at Carthage will acquaint participants with theoretical and empirical issues of modern comparative economics. Study tour to Hong Kong, Macao and South China, among other experiences, broaden the international perspective of those who participate and provide unique opportunity for individual growth and intellectual development. In Hong Kong, Macao and South China academic, government and business professionals will share insights and experiences on Asian economy and business practices, and students will tour the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Office of Economic Programs at the U.S. Consulate-General, Office of Economic development of Macao, cultural sites and headquarters of several multinational companies. In China we will examine rapid political and economic change and attend up-to-date lectures. In Hong Kong you can experience firsthand an economic feat of superhuman proportions: some 6 million people living and working on 400 square miles of land with few natural resources other than a deep harbor. Few visitors avoid being swept up in the energy, excitement, and apparent confusion. This vibrancy is just as much a tourist attraction as thousands of shops selling the worlds best products duty-free. In addition to shopping, Hong Kong has great Chinese food; mountains, beaches, harbors, and parks; and exotic festivals. Perched on the southeast coast of China, the city recently had a date with destiny. On July 1, 1997, Britain handed its Crown colony back to the People's Republic of China. The cost of the trip is only $1,549.00 and includes airfare from Chicago's O'Hare international airport (via San Francisco), lodging, all transfers and admissions.
